Isunga lodge located near Kibale Forest Park head quarter at Isunga lies Isunga lodge. The lodge sits on an elevated position, with magnificent views of the rainforest, the majestic peaks of the Rwenzori Mountains and all the way to Queen Elizabeth and Lake George. Around 50 volcanic crater lakes can be also found in the surrounding area, making this the ideal base for sightseeing and activities such as chimpanzee and other primate watching, birdwatching, hiking and mountain biking. They are approximately 20 minutes’ drive from the chimpanzee tracking start point at Kanyanchu.  The lodge was built by 2014 and opened in 2016, this means the lodge is still knew and fresh with quality facilities.

The lodge is a mid-range – luxury type that pampers your stay in their African iconic designs and settings of the rooms.

Seven peaceful, secluded cottages are dotted over the hillside, and guests can enjoy wandering around through the large grounds that have returned to a wilder, more natural state with abundant bird life around. Perfect for nature – lovers.

Please note that since the lodge is spread over a hillside it may not be suitable for those with mobility issues.

Accommodation

The lodge 7 ensuite cottages are spaced well apart so that our guests can relax and enjoy the peaceful environment in a private setting surrounded by nature. All cottages have outside seating with lovely views of Kibale and are equipped with hot showers and flush toilets. Lighting is provided by solar power. Charging points for cameras etc. are located in the main restaurant.

One of the reasons they chose this location was for the stunning panoramic views which are best appreciated from their large, comfortable restaurant. It’s a perfect place to relax, read a book, have a drink from their bar or use the free Wi-Fi.

As keen cooks themselves, the quality of food they serve is really important to them. Their meals are prepared using fresh ingredients from their own garden, combined with great produce from the local community. All dietary requirements can be catered for.

Join them for a sundowner while watching the sunset over the Rwenzoris then sit by the campfire under the stars, share stories of your day with fellow travellers and listen for the sounds of elephants and chimpanzees from the forest below.
